Burkina Faso

Burkina Faso is a landlocked country in West Africa, surrounded by six countries. It is geographically located in the Sahel―the agricultural region between the Sahara Desert and the coastal rain forests. Burkina Faso is prone to drought and famine and is one of the poorest nations in the world. Due to the extreme poverty, life expectancy in Burkina Faso is around 50 years old.

There are 80 people groups in Burkina Faso, with twenty-seven of them being Unreached People Groups. Seventeen of those unreached people groups are Muslim. Burkina Faso, is a nation of over 22 million people, and until recently, was rated by the Global Peace Index as a peaceful country. However, that changed drastically in January of 2016 when Islamic militants began a killing spree. Since 2016, there have been hundreds of attacks.  The attacks are becoming more focused on Christian villages rather than random killings.  Missionaries, both Western and African, are NOT backing down! Henri Yé, president of the Federation of Evangelical Churches and Missions in Burkina Faso (FEME), told CT, “In the face of blind hatred, let us ask God to give us the strength to spread love, which makes us the children of God.” We are in the process of rolling Live School out throughout the entire FEME network and believe that what the devil meant for harm, God will turn it for HIS glory!

All of our Unreached People Group statistics come from The Joshua Project, who’s whole mission is to bring awareness to all of the Unreached People Groups all around the world! Clicking on the link above that says “learn more” will take you to the Joshua Project website of that Unreached People Group.
